Sustainable fishing project nominated for Ocean Awards 2017

Espersen is part of an international working group aiming to secure a healthy marine ecosystem for the future in the northern-most part of the Northeast Atlantic around the island of Svalbard.

Due to climate change, the ice sheet in the Northeast Atlantic is melting, opening new opportunities for fishing. Together with partners in the fish industry, NGOs, retailers and food service, Espersen is one of the drivers of development of voluntary agreement that prevents fishing in the now open seas until the consequences have been thoroughly investigated.

The project is nominated for the Ocean Awards 2017.
